Arsenal are among the clubs monitoring the young striker’s progress in Argentina, where he has caught the eye since breaking into Racing’s first team in 2015.
But, as talkSPORT told you back in October, it appeared as though Atletico’s interest was at the most advanced stage and the Spanish club were hoping to land him in January.
It was even reported that the La Liga club had held off interest from Arsenal, Monaco and Real Madrid to agree a £10.75m New Year deal.
Now Racing president Victo Blanco has broken his silence on the future of the club’s star striker – and says it is bad news for Atletico and anyone else wishing to sign Martinez in January.
Blanco told Fox Sports Radio Sur: “We received an offer from Atletico of €12.75m, plus a 10 percent surplus value of a future sale, for Lautaro Martinez but Racing turned it down.
“We want to get together on Monday or Tuesday with Lautaro’s agent to discuss this and make a definite decision.
“I spoke with him and I can guarantee that Lautaro is going to continue with us until June.”
