You can get a five-course Michelin star dining experience in Hull – but be quick as tickets will go fast.
The annual pop-up restaurant dining event, hosted by CASE, is back for a fifth year producing quality food.
Chef Colin McGurran, who runs Michelin-starred Winteringham Fields restaurant in Scunthorpe, one of the finest in the country, will be offering his expertise to teach CASE clients with learning disabilities the art of fine dining and challenge them to cook a Michelin style five-course dinner.
He said: “This event is about educating and teaching people about the basic needs of life with cooking and eating. It is a skill very close to my heart and we are very passionate about delivering it.
“This will be our third year working with CASE. We have been trying to keep the event quite high profile in gastronomic fine dining.
“I wanted to try and achieve a menu that is quite ambitious for the guys to give them more confidence that if they can do this then they can achieve doing something at home.
“We are overambitious with what we are trying to deliver.”
This year, Colin will be handing the reins to his head chef at Winteringham Fields, Gareth Bartram, who is confident the team will provide top-quality food.
Gareth said: “We are going to be seeing some quite seasonal summer produce. I’ve got some Wagyu beef and some really fresh ingredients coming through so I can’t wait to get in that kitchen and show the guys exactly what they are going to be doing.
“I’ve done it a few years ago with Colin but I’m going to be taking the reins this year so hopefully it will all go well. I’ve got some big shoes to fill but hopefully it will all go smoothly.
“I’m full of confidence in the guys ability to produce some really good food.”
The venue at CASE will be transformed to provide a luxury dining experience one would expect from a Michelin style restaurant.
Since its inception five years ago, the event has gone on from strength to strength since it began from serving 20 customers to 65 and tickets are usually sold out within a week.
Steve Rusling, CASE marketing manager, said: “Our main target audience are local business people that would like to take a table and experience Michelin star quality food in a pop-up restaurant made by people with learning disabilities.
“Colin and his team will come in and work with our clients with learning disabilities to produce a five-course meal.
“Hopefully, it will be a nice sunny day so we will all be able to go out into the courtyard, have some music going on, and have a real nice friendly experience.”
CASE is a local charity working with local people and their families towards creating better life opportunities. They focus on improving clients’ lives to help them to grow as individuals, develop their independence and by learning new skills so that they can actively contribute in the community.
The CASE pop-up restaurant event will take place at their centre on Charles Street on June 5 and 6 starting at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased via the CASE website.
