The teenager defender will leave Toulouse when his contract expires at the end of the season
Barcelona have agreed a deal to sign France starlet Jean-Clair Todibo on July 1, the LaLiga club have confirmed.
Todibo, the defender, will leave Toulouse when his contract expires at the end of the season, meaning he joins Barca on a free transfer.
The 19-year-old has made just 10 appearances for Toulouse’s first team, debuting in August and playing his most recent match at the beginning of November.
A Barcelona statement read: “FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with the French player Jean-Clair Todibo for him to join the Club from 1 July 2019.
“The player’s contract with Toulouse FC ends on 30 June this year and so he will join on a free transfer.”
Primarily a central defender, Todibo can also play in midfield and is known for his physical presence, ability in the air, and technical skill with the ball at his feet.
Having established himself in Toulouse’s starting line-up at such a young age, many clubs were reported to be keeping tabs on the teenager in the build up to the January transfer window.
Toulouse’s Ligue 1 rivals Lyon were said to be keen on him, as well RB Leipzig of Germany’s Bundesliga.
talkSPORT also revealed in November that Liverpool were interested in signing Todibo, but they have missed out with Barcelona securing his signature.
