Ben Simmons was involved in a physical fight during NBA match between his team Phildelphia 76ers and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, October 30. The bench-clearing brawl, which happened in the third quarter, was first instigated by 76ers centre Joel Embiid and Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns.
The fight started behind the play in the backcourt as Joel and Karl-Anthony began shoving one another. Things quickly escalated as the latter grabbed the former in a headlock and it didn’t take long before all hell broke loose.
In some videos that circulated online, Ben was seen being the first player to join the fight as the others rushed in to the source of the chaos. Assisting teammate Joel, the Australian basketballer pinned Karl-Anthony down on the floor and put him in a chokehold.
After a video review as supporters in the stands went wild, both Joel and Karl-Anthony were ejected from the match. The former, however, got a standing ovation from the home crowd while making his way out of the court while doing some shadow boxing. “I ain’t no b****h!” he said, defending his actions.
KAT’s parents were among the people in the stands. Her mom was seen being held back as she gave the Sixers star a piece of their mind before he left the court.
After the video went viral, some people expressed their opinions about Ben’s action. Popular UFC fighter Eddie Alvarez appeared to be impressed by ex-boyfriend of Kendall Jenner, writing on twitter, “Yo @BenSimmons25 I’m coming to a game next week let’s prep in the back .. I’ll show you how to finish that choke,” before adding several lauhing emojis. Another tweet, meanwhile, read, “Ben Simmons is the realest teammate of all time for getting KAT in a chokehold mid-fight with Embiid.”
