Italian midfielder may pick west London club over a transfer to Manchester City
Chelsea have made a move to tempt Napoli midfielder Jorginho to west London.
Italy international Jorginho has been a top target for Manchester City all summer but a transfer to the Etihad is no longer straight forward.
City boss Pep Guardiola wants to sign a new central midfielder during the current transfer window and the 26-year-old is his preferred option.
Napoli have been playing hard ball over a fee for Jorginho, though, and talks are still rumbling on.
And, according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, Chelsea have now entered the race for the midfielder.
The Blues are set to appoint Jorginho’s old boss from Napoli, Maurizio Sarri, soon and that could work in their favour. The Italian flourished under Sarri and he is very keen to link up with him again if given the chance.
