Lewis Dunk and Glenn Murray
Brighton and Hove Albion striker Glenn Murray believes teammate Lewis Dunk deserves a place in the England squad after a fantastic season.
The uncapped duo have been the stars for Chris Hughton’s side this season, and were unfortunate not to be called up to Gareth Southgate’s side for the friendlies against Italy and Holland in March.
Despite scoring 14 goals in all competitions this season, the 34-year-old admitted he was more focused on helping his club side than worrying about an England call-up.
However, he was adamant Dunk deserves a call-up, even if it is for a non-competitive fixture.
Murray told talkSPORT: “Obviously my main aim is to score goals for Brighton in the Premier League and we’ve still got a job to do in staying in the league.
“What comes off the back of that, you never know.
“But I do think Lewis should be really near the squad to be perfectly honest.
“I think he has had a fantastic year and he will be disappointed if he didn’t even get a friendly game.”
Dunk has kept nine clean sheets in the Premier League this season, helping the Seagulls to 14th place in the Premier League – even managing to chip in with a goal and assist.
