The Nate Archibald of the ‘Gossip Girl’ addresses the infamous photo that left little to the imagination, saying showrunner Eric Kripke got the biggest kick out of it.
Chace Crawford broke his silence on a particular picture from “The Boys” calendar that features him in a tight green bodysuit as aquatic superhero The Deep. “I got a lot of weird DMs in my inbox,” he said to EW of people’s reactions to the infamous photo that left little to the imagination. “A lot of love, a lot of love!”
“I thought it was so funny, but I don’t think anyone got a bigger kick out of it than [showrunner] Eric Kripke,” he stated. “He thought it was the funniest thing in the world. Oh god. It was probably a little bit overcovered but I was like, ‘Whatever The Deep can do for you guys to get some press, you know I’m ready to support the show!’ That was one I had to explain to a few people.”
When asked about the bulge, the 34-year-old actor laughed and groaned, “Oh my god!” The star said, “There is a story behind that but I’m sworn to secrecy by Eric Kripke.” He added, “I’m sworn to secrecy. I wish I could give you a good answer but we’ll never know. It will forever remain a mystery. We will never know!”
He initially thought he would be joined by the other cast members in the calendar. “We were all there on set doing group shots. They pulled me over to a green screen and told me, ‘We’re doing calendars.’ I’m thinking, ‘okay, everyone’s got a calendar.’ That’s great! But no. It was just me!”
“The Boys” is adapted from the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The web TV series premiered July in Amazon and got renewed for season 2.
