Fire engulfs 200 acres of land in California as dozens of fire engines rush to the scene | World | News

Officials said the initial fire was 25 acres large but have since confirmed the flames have increased to cover more than 200 acres, with fears the blaze could spread further.

California Fire Department originally tweeted: “Firefighters are battling a 25 acre fire off Rawson Road and Royal Netherlands Road, south of Winchester (Riverside County).”

Six homes are under evacuation orders, it has been reported. 


Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for Hidden Falls Road and Vista Road, according to California Fire officials. 

One unoccupied structure was destroyed.

Fire reports indicated that that six firefighting aircraft have been called to the scene, along with 23 engine companies totalling 94 firefighters.

The fire is believed to be an estimated three or four acres away from another home.

A witness at the scene said: “Structures are threatened and evacs in progress.”

More than 90 firefighters from 23 engine companies are fighting the blaze, along with two helicopters, four air tankers, four bulldozers and two water tenders.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
