The Board of Directors of the Tennessee Housing Association recently announced that Coble B. Brooks of Mount Pleasant has been selected to receive the 2019 Stan and Thelma Plumlee Scholarship. Brooks is a senior at Hampshire Unit School in Hampshire.
This prestigious scholarship is awarded each year by the Tennessee Housing Association as an honor to the late Stan Plumlee of West Tennessee. Plumlee was a pioneer of the manufactured housing industry. He was a man of upstanding character, tremendous compassion and dedication, an avid proponent of higher education and a friend to all. This is a four-year scholarship with a total value of $8,000, provided the student remains in school.
“Coble has been very successful with his academic studies, as is evident by his ranking as the class salutatorian. While maintaining a high GPA, Coble also participated in sports and various school clubs and community projects. It takes self-discipline to manage academics and extra-curricular activities. The Scholarship Committee looks for well-rounded students, and those with a vision of what they wish to accomplish in their future professional career, said Executive Director Marla McAfee.
Coble plans to attend Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville to pursue a degree in business.
