It may seem like just yesterday that Harry Redknapp was crowned the King of the Jungle, but the rumoured names for the 2019 series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here are already circulating.
It was only five months ago that Harry was chosen as the winner after melting hearts with stories of how he fell in love with wife Sandra, and an intense hunger for the schoolboy classic pud that is Jam Roly Poly.
But it seems that people are already throwing rumours out about who could be jumping from a plane and into the jungle this year, reports WalesOnline.
Of course, the casting team are hoping for even better contestants this year, and want to bring in “funny and high energy” celebrities to make it the best series yet.
Obviously, we will also have Ant back on our screens again.
He was replaced last year by Holly Willoughby after a troubling year which saw him convicted for drink-driving, and undergo a stint in rehab.
But this year, Ant and Dec will be back together and hopefully on top form as they set to grill our favourite celebs.
Speaking at a BAFTA masterclass, the show’s producer, Micky Van Praagh, has confirmed the team are hard at work as they search for the perfect cast.
She said it’s “very early days” but that they’ve already started casting.
She added: “I think we know what works. I think of our show as a comedy and so I’m looking for people who are funny and high energy as we know those types of things always work.
“But otherwise, you want to do something completely different every year. You’re never looking for the next Harry Redknapp or the next John Barrowman or the next Fleur East. You’ve got to do something different.”
However, the crew has said they try to avoid big bust-ups like other reality series like Big Brother and Love Island.
Creative director Richard Cowles said: “We have never casted for conflict. If arguments go on for too long it can get a bit dull and relentless.
“We will always try and cast for warmth and for people to get on. But we want it to be as stressful as it can be because that’s when you see people’s true colours and how they would react.”
The rumoured cast
McVitie’s heir Jamie is no stranger to reality TV and made his name on Made in Chelsea. He has gone onto star in everything from the Great British Bake Off and Celebrity Hunted.
His Made in Chelsea castmate, Georgia Toffolo, had big success in the jungle and was crowned queen in 2017.
A show insider said: “He’s a cheeky chappie and no doubt the public will fall in love with him like they did Toff.”
Michael Le Vell
Corrie’s Kevin Webster may follow in many of his castmate’s footsteps with a jungle stint and ITV bosses were even in talks for him to appear in last year’s show.
He was cleared of all sex abuse allegations a couple of years back but it was a costly court battle. He may fancy the hefty sum of cash ITV may offer.
The Good Morning Britain presenter has been on our screens for years but could we soon be seeing her in the jungle?
She was meant to be on last year’s show but dropped out at the last minute.
She is said to be a huge fan of the show and a source told the Sun when she was first touted as a contestant: “Kate has been approached by show producers because they know she would be TV gold.
“Kate has always been relatable and game for a challenge but since entering her fifties she’s embracing all aspects of life and sees the Aussie jungle as the ultimate life test.”
The GC has already tried the jungle and lasted just 72 hours amid claims she was “starving.”
Despite first comparing herself to Bear Grylls, she fell at the first hurdle. Could 2019 be her year to make a return?
She has also appeared on Dancing on Ice and Celebrity Big Brother, so will she be tempted back to the jungle?
In March this year, she told Jonathan Ross: “If I was to go back now…I’ve got a lot more experience. I’ve got a tougher skin now and I think that’s where The GC came into play. If they asked me to go back, yes I’d go back.”
Another Corrie favourite has been on our screen less time than good old Kevin Webster but could soon be heading into the jungle.
Soap favourite Lucy thinks she has what is takes.
She said last year: “I think I’d be good at the jungle. I like to challenge myself and that’s the most challenging show you can do.”
Frankie’s footballer husband Wayne took part in 2016’s series and Frankie said she’d love to follow in his footsteps.
She told The Mirror previously: “I think now Wayne’s done it and he loved it and he said he would do it again, it kind of makes me feel positive that I would enjoy it.”
Frankie has previously taken part in Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity MasterChef.
Love Island alumni Olivia has been tipped to join 2019’s jungle cast.
When Holly joined Dec last year she said: “I’d love to do I’m A Celebrity, and I’d love to meet Holly. I’ve met her a couple of times but to do that on I’m A Celeb and if Ant and Dec could make a comeback I’d absolutely adore that.
“I love them two and I watched them when I was younger so to be next to them doing something ridiculous, that would be epic.”
Great British Bake Off 2017’s winner Nadiya has previously hinted that she would be up for camp life and even said the famous Bush Tucker Trials wouldn’t faze her.
She previously admitted to Lorraine: “There is something about being in the jungle that really excites me. I grew up eating offal, so that would not bother me. Blitz it up and put it in a glass and I’ll have it.”
Another Love Island favourite, Alexandra got temperatures soaring while on the island and has said before she isn’t scared of a bit of danger.
She said: “I know I’m A Celeb isn’t like Love Island but I’m determined! I will go on that show because I love everything they get involved in.
“I love a bit of danger. I love snakes and I don’t mind spiders so I think I’d be really good on the show. I’d win everyone meals in the camp. Lara Croft vibes!”
Love her or hate her, Georgia makes every reality show her own.
Whether it be Love Island or Celebs Go Dating, or I’m A Celeb, Georgia is determined to prove people wrong.
She said: “I would love an opportunity like that as I think it would be amazing. It would be very scary though. Of course, anything is possible.”
Dani Dyer and Danni Dyer
Straight out of her Love Island-winning relationship, newly-single Dani could be hitting the jungle. ITV bosses are keen on getting her and her actor dad Danny to feature.
Last June, Danny said he is a fan of all reality shows.
He said: “It is an instant thing at the moment and it is a career…why not try and do something like this Love Island – everyone’s talking about it and she (Dani) can earn loads of money and crack right on.
“It is a career – you can earn loads of dough and get loved and adored for it.”
After a turbulent year where she was pictured locking lips with her Strictly Come Dancing Partner Seann Walsh (despite having husband Neil at home), Katya could use I’m A Celebrity to turn around the public’s perception of her.
He has already graced reality TV screens once in Celebrity Big Brother and it seems former footballer John could make an appearance in the jungle.
He told the Johnathan Ross Show he’d be up for it.
He said: “From the point of view of eating anything, I eat everything and anything, so from that point of view I would do it. Lying around doing nothing much I quite fancy, so I’d probably look at it as a bit of a holiday. I would do it, yeah.”
Former England captain Terry’s name has been thrown around a bit as a possible contestant.
Bookies have him on their list.
It was thought the Holby City star would be on last year’s series and has said before it would be “an amazing challenge.”
She said last year: “I’ve had a couple of meetings. I have spoken to them, it is something I would love to do actually.
“I think for me it would be an amazing challenge.”
The Hollyoaks star has said she is keen to take on the challenge.
She told the Manchester Evening News: “I’ve always wanted to do the jungle. I’m scared of everything but I’d like to be in Australia. There are no pressures from the outside world, no TVs and no phones and I think it’s a real test of inner strength which has always appealed to me.”
She competed in last year’s Dancing on Ice but was one of the first voted off.
She recently announced she would be leaving the cobbles and bowing out as Coronation Street favourite Michelle Connor.
In a Good Morning Britain appearance she said “never say never” in response to getting the I’m A Celeb call.
She is currently starring in Elf the Musical though, and that starts in December.
Cutie Rahul won the hearts of the nation and the Great British Bake Off in the last series and now bookies think he could be heading Down Under this year.
