Back in 2007, Ms Trump met with Marie Claire writer George Gurley for a feature on the young businesswoman. The pair went to a restaurant where they discussed her jewellery business and working for her father’s approval in the Trump Organisation. Ms Trump wore a black Brioni suit and carried a Chanel bag.

However, Mr Gurley did spot her eating something very controversial – foie gras.

Foie gras is considered a luxury food product made from the liver of a duck or goose.

However, its flavour is produced by force-feeding the fowl corn through a tube.

Fans of foie gras claim the method gives it a rich, buttery taste but animal rights activists insist the process of making it is too cruel.

It is illegal to make foie gras in the UK, but not to eat or sell it.

However, it is legal to produce foie gras in the US, except for in California.

Animal welfare advocates such as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and the Humane Society of the United States say the practice is inhumane.

Ms Trump however, was casually discussing her work while eating it.

According to the article, Ms Trump said this as she ate her food: “I obviously have a great love and appreciation of jewellery, thanks to my mother, much to the dismay of both my father and my boyfriends.

“But it doesn’t matter how much I love jewellery; I wouldn’t do it if it weren’t going to be successful.”

After saying this, she reportedly swallowed a forkful of foie gras.

Ms Trump added: “I know people assume I could coast on what other generations have done before me.

“But I know I have to prove myself within the company, to my father and everyone we work with.”

This was the last meeting between the two while working on this feature.

The future senior adviser to the US President said “gotta go” and left – stopping to pay for the meal beforehand.

Ms Trump has previously come under fire from PETA for wearing fur.
