Jon Jones is the light heavyweight champion and one of the greatest MMA fighters ever while Israel Adesanya had a crowning moment at UFC 236 becoming the interim middleweight champion
Jon Jones sits atop of the UFC light heavyweight division and is, arguably, one of the greatest to ever step in the octagon.
Right now Jones is preparing to defend his light heavyweight championship against Thiago Santos at UFC 239 on July 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
However, he is clearly keeping his eye on the future of the UFC, too.
Israel Adesanya became the interim UFC middleweight champion at UFC 236 on Saturday night after he defeated Kelvin Gastelum.
Adesanya has long been compared to Jones because of their long frames and rangy styles and the Nigerian has mentioned in the past that after defeating Anderson Silva, he’d like to add defeat another great in Jones.
Bones isn’t buying into the hype, though. As you can see from the tweets below, Jones isn’t impressed with Adesanya and he has clearly heard the call-out from the new champion.
Jones has now deleted his tweets, but the screenshots never lie!
Adesanya would have to pack on 20 pounds if he wanted to rise up and challenge Jones or they could fight at a catchweight, but it’s hard to imagine Jones going lower than 205 pounds.
