Juventus chief denies reports they want to sign former Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli

Mario Balotelli has been linked with Juventus

Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta has dismissed a move for former Liverpool forward Mario Balotelli as a “fantasy story”.

Reports have emerged this week suggesting the Italy international was on the verge of agreeing a long-term deal with Juve from French club Nice.

The former Inter and AC Milan striker has been in red-hot form in Ligue 1 this season, scoring 16 goals in all competitions.

However, Marotta has ended speculation linking Balotelli with a surprise move to Turin, insisting he is a player the club are not currently looking at.

“Beyond our affection, esteem and liking for this boy it’s a fantasy football story,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.

“His is a profile we don’t need.”

Liverpool paid £16m to bring Balotelli to Anfield from AC Milan back in 2014, but the 27-year-old scored just four times in 28 appearances before moving back to the San Siro club on loan.
