Both Man United and Tottenham have shown interest in the centre-back, who could go for as much as £40million.

But, according to Tuttosport, it is Juventus who are currently leading the race to sign De Ligt next summer.

The club’s hierarchy are said to be in regular contact with the youngster’s representatives and that is keeping them at the front of the chasing pack.

De Ligt’s agent, Mino Raiola, has experience of dealing with Juventus after brokering Paul Pogba’s arrival and departure from the club.

Juve are now in talks with him again in the hope they can land De Ligt ahead of Manchester United and Tottenham.
