Haute Couture Societe to meet

Artist Heidi Emmit is the guest speaker for Saturday’s Haute Couture Societe meeting, set to begin with a social hour at 9:30 a.m. at San Joaquin Delta College’s Danner Hall.

Acting workshop in Mokelumne Hill

Actor Lee Stetson, best known for his portrayals of John Muir, will hold an acting workshop for all ages from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Mokelumne Hill Town Hall, 8283 Main St., on Saturday. Cost is $50 and limited to 20 people. Partial scholarships are available from the Amador and Calaveras counties arts councils.

Participants can purchase tickets for Stetson’s 7 p.m. performance of “John Muir is Back, and Man, is he Ticked Off,” for $10.

All other tickets for the one-man show are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

SICL registration on Feb. 10

Registration for the Stockton Institute for Continued Learning is scheduled for 10-11:30 a.m. Feb. 10 in Upper Danner Hall at San Joaquin Delta College. Fee is $30 and there is no limit to the number of classes one can take.

SICL offers classes and speakers for lifelong learners with no tests or grades.

The spring semester offers 32 different classes, including beginning bridge, drawing, card games, opera appreciation, Mah Jong, creative writing, genealogy, birding, gardening, quilting, fit-friends walking group, Tai Chi, Latin American films, mindful meditation, book club, painting and nutrition.

Galt runs set for Feb. 10

Runners of all ages are invited to run, jog, walk, and stroller push at Galt’s sixth annual Tiny Smiles’ “tiny” Half Marathon, 10K, 5K Run/Walk, Kids Fun Run, and Health Expo beginning at 8 a.m. Feb. 10 at the Galt Fairgrounds, located at Civic Drive and Chabolla Avenue.

The day is designed to create awareness of Congenital Heart Defect and raise money for the Children’s Heart Foundation–California Chapter and tinySmiles.

Entry fee is $70 for the half-marathon, and $50 for the 5K and 10K.

An early race packet pickup will be held from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Feb. 9 at the Littleton Center, 410 Civic Drive, Galt.

Race-day registration and check in will open at 6 a.m., with the half-marathon beginning at 8 a.m., followed by the 5K and 10K events starting at 8:15 a.m. The Kids’ Fun Run will begin at 9 a.m. The Health Expo will run from 8 a.m.-noon.

Ballet school plans fundraiser

Student performances, wine and snacks, a raffle and silent auction are part of Pacific Ballet’s Spread the Love annual fundraiser, set for 6-8 p.m. Feb. 10 at the school, 2218 Pacific Ave., Stockton.

Proceeds from Spread the Love will go toward owner Suzanne Lundberg’s goal of forming a nonprofit while continuing to provide classes, scholarships and performances in the communit,y with the ultimate aim of creating a professional dance company in Stockton.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children/students and $40 couple.
