Police have arrested a woman after a man was allegedly hit three times with hammer and left with severe injuries to his ear.
Around 15 police vehicles and several ambulances rushed to the scene near in Octagon, Plymouth at around 6.10pm yesterday.
A staff member from the nearby kebab house said a man’s ear had been “cut off” and he was allegedly stabbed “with a screwdriver”.
Police said a woman was arrested after a female with a hammer hit a the male victim three times – they also found that part of his ear had been bitten off.

The staff member said: “A hammer and screwdriver were involved. I can see about 15 police cars and ambulance and police private investigators.”
The Force Incident Manager for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “There has been disorder on Union Street. We have one male victim [allegedly] hit by a female with a hammer. A woman is currently in custody.
“The same male has had part of his ear bitten off by an unknown person. We’ve got another male in custody, so two in custody.
A Plymouth Live reporter, Carl Eve, who was at the scene last night said: “The incident has occurred opposite the Plymouth Curry and Kebab House on the Octagon.
“Inspector Mike Kelly told me they were called to the scene for a fight involving weapons. As a result of their attendance two people have been arrested on suspicion of affray, one male and one female.
“Police have said there is potentially one male outstanding who was last seen running up Martin Street. There is no description at this time. One male has gone to hospital who has suffered head injuries.
“Police have said suspected weapons have been seized but they will not say what they are.
“The victim was treated at the scene by police and paramedics, including a BTP special, who is also a paramedic. There is still two police vehicles in the area but the ambulance has gone and police were scene carrying a number of evidence bags.
“There was a small cordon around the Plymouth kebab house and a scenes of crime officers were also in the area taken photos. Officers were also seen cleaning the footpath with water.”
