A popular St Stephen’s store is closing its doors to become a “megastore” nearby.

USC in St Stephen’s shopping centre has announced the store is closing and all stock is currently reduced.

The closing down date is yet to be confirmed, however the brand store is not moving too far away.

A spokesman for USC Hull said: “We will be moving with Sports Direct into their new premises across the road.

“Other cities including Leeds have become megastores and that’s what we are doing now also. USC will be within the new Sports Direct store.

“We don’t have an actual closing date at the moment though.”

The fashion chain offers adult and children’s clothing and shoes from more than 150 prominent brands, including Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Converse, Adidas and Jack Jones.

All stock within the Hull St Stephen’s store is reduced, with full price stock also carrying a 10 per cent discount.

USC Hull is the fourth store to vacate the shopping centre, after Zara, Dorothy Perkins and Sports Direct announced they would not be renewing their tenancy contracts with the centre earlier this year.

Sports Direct and USC will be taking up the former Poundland and TG Hughes premises opposite to the shopping centre in Ferensway.
