A Facebook page has surfaced, purporting to be that of a lecturer at the University of Lagos who has been suspended by the institution on account of a video on how teachers allegedly offer female students marks in return for sex.

The Facebook page, allegedly belonging to Dr. Boniface Igbeneghu, described the BBC report as a “hoax” and the “work of devil.”

The Facebook page also dissociated the Associate Professor who was, until the BBC video was released, a pastor with the Foursquare Gospel Church, from the video.

In the video released by the BBC earlier this week, the suspended teacher-pastor was seen talking with an undercover reporter who had posed as a university admission seeker.

The University of Lagos has since suspended Igbeneghu, based on his utterances and disposition in the said video.

In the newly-opened Facebook page whose first post was made on Monday, October 7 after the BBC video had been released, photographs of the embattled teacher and his wife were used, in which he was allegedly telling her how much he loved her, and how it was impossible for the BBC video to separate them.

The Facebook page quoted the suspended university teacher, who was a Sub-Dean, as claiming to have been set up by the BBC, and that he had opened a conversation with his lawyer.

On the first date of the Facebook page debut, eight photographs, screenshots and memes were posted.

There were no new posts until Thursday, October 10, when five posts were added, mainly to diss the BBC video.

On Saturday, October 12, two new posts were made, mainly to thank those who allegedly called and prayed for the teacher.

Dr. Igbeneghu could not be reached to confirm ownership of the Facebook page, as calls made to his phone were not answered; nor did he respond to a text message sent to him as at the time of filing this report.
