A teenager has been stabbed to death after being chased by a man “wearing a grey or blue hoodie” before being attacked in southeast London, police have said.
Officers were called to Tiverton Street in Southwark on Sunday at around 9.30pm where they found a man, aged 18, suffering from stab wounds.
London’s Air Ambulance also attended.
The victim was taken to a south London hospital where he died shortly before 11pm.
The man has not been formally identified but his next of kin have been informed.
A post-mortem examination will be held in due course and a crime scene remains in place.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Leonard of the Homicide and Major Crime Command said: “The victim was seen being chased by another male wearing a grey or blue hoodie from Newington Gardens into Tiverton Street where he was attacked and shortly after found by police and London Air Ambulance.
“We need those who have information about the culprit(s) for this murder to get in touch with police immediately.
“Were you there? Did you see anything? Your information could prove vital to solving this case and I would urge you to get in touch,” he said.
No arrests have been made but police say they have a number of active enquiries including reviewing CCTV footage, making house to house calls and forensic analysis at the scene.
