While the Caribbean was hard hit by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, much of the region was spared from damage. And many impacted islands have reopened for business and are eager for travelers to return.
To help shed light on this slice of tropical paradise, 10Best asked our readers to help us name the Caribbean’s best resorts, beaches, attractions, bars, distilleries, golf courses, restaurants, dive sites and islands for romance.

Best Caribbean Attraction: Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua

Nelson’s Dockyard was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2016, thanks to the meticulous restoration of its Georgian-era marina and buildings. In operation since 1745, the complex features a small Dockyard Museum with collections detailing Antigua history.

Best Caribbean Beach: Gold Rock Beach in the Bahamas

Located within the protected Lucayan National Park, Gold Rock Beach comprises a spectacular and secluded stretch of sand known as Grand Bahama’s “welcome mat.” Beachgoers can make use of BBQ pits, picnic tables and benches, and at low tide, the sand stretches for yards out to sea.

Best Caribbean Beach Bar: Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke

The Soggy Dollar on Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands is known for creating the Painkiller, a rum cocktail featuring cream of coconut, pineapple, orange juice and freshly grated Grenadian nutmeg.

Best Caribbean Dive Site: Butler Bay Wrecks on St. Croix

There’s a wreck for just about every type of diver in Butler Bay off the coast of St. Croix, as well as a few sunken abandoned cars. Among the more popular options are the Rosa Maria, a 177-foot freighter; Coakley Bay, an oil refinery tugboat; and Suffolk Maid, a large trawler.
