We are approaching festival season in the UK with Glastonbury, Leeds and Creamfields bringing in international festivalgoers and top bands.

But, what trends will be hot for the rest of the year?

Some of the major trends have been identified by fashion search platform Lyst and the results highlight some controversial fashions.

Top of the list are the controversial denim panties – named Jandies – which were first displayed by Y/Project on the catwalk in Paris and have seen searches rise by 2,250% online.

According to the list oversized “ugly” sandals are the most wanted festival shoes right now. Searches for “rubber sandals” have increased 34% since the beginning of March. Somebody searches for ‘Prada velcro sandals’ every seven minutes worldwide and it is tipped to be a popular choice in the desert-based Coachella festival in the US

There are plenty of affordable variations of this style, with the likes of these Missguided black stud cleated sole sandals now available for just £24.

Unsurprisingly, Kim Kardashian has also influenced the list. Futuristic, sport-inspired sunglasses will be the it shades this festival season.

The reality TV star launched her new sunglasses collection in collaboration with Carolina Lemke earlier this month, searches for race-ready shades increased 650% the following week.

There are sunglasses range such as Boohoo , ASOS and ISawItFirst who all do low priced trending styles.

Cycling shorts are having a big fashion moment globally. Currently the most viewed festival ready styles include neon biker shorts (+190%), rainbow biker shorts (+350%) and romper biker shorts (+300%).

The surge for anything neon continues for festival goers and there are still ranges dedicated to the fashion style. You can find plenty of neon, biker and rainbow shorts at the likes of Pretty Little Thing.

Finally, the list says Sequin outfits will also be favoured at Coachella this year. Sequin bikini sets have seen breakout searches while sequin bikini tops have generated 40% more pageviews on Lyst since the beginning of March.

There are dedicated festival shops on some fashion retailer pages, including over at InTheStyle- with a full section on sequin dresses .

Expect to see boys in sequin outfits too. Shimmery jackets are trending in men’s festival fashion right now and the ASOS Jacket with Cut and Sew Sequins is getting all the attention with a 108% increase in views in the last

This mens ASOS DESIGN Tall festival western jacket with cut and sew sequins is one of our favourite items amongst the findings. If more men wore sequins the world would be a better place.

Lyst compared the online shopping behaviour of more than 5 million shoppers worldwide per month searching, browsing and buying fashion and analyzed various spikes in search over the past three months to compile the report, based on global search data and social media metrics.
