In recent years we have heard a lot about ‘overtourism’ – the places that are struggling beneath the weight of their own popularity. Cities like Venice, Dubrovnik and Barcelona (Amsterdam, Palma de Mallorca, Lisbon – the list goes on) face the difficult task of both welcoming and managing the impact of thousands of tourists per year.
