City celebrate their opening goal against Tottenham
The visitors took the lead when Gabriel Jesus latched onto Vincent Kompany’s excellent through ball to fire past the on-rushing Hugo Lloris.
And the lead was doubled shortly after when Lloris’ eagerness to rush from his goal was punished by Raheem Sterling, who nicked the ball past him and went under the subsequent challenge.
Ilkay Gundogan stepped up to score the resulting penalty, leaving Pep Guardiola’s side in cruise control.
The lead was halved when Harry Kane played a delightful pass into the path of Christian Eriksen, whose effort ricocheted into the net off his shin.
But the game was wrapped up in the second half when, after missing a gilt-edged opportunity minutes earlier, Sterling finally got his name on the scoresheet with a cool finish.
