Tri County Tech student Garrett Walsh was recently named the Downtown Kiwanis Club’s Student of the Month for April. Walsh, a senior at Bartlesville Public Schools, is enrolled in the medicine and biosciences program.

Walsh knew the field he was wanting to pursue and saw Tri County Tech as a tool to assist him in reaching his career goals. “Medicine and biosciences is not just a class, but something that will prepare you for your future. I love all the different labs and how the teachers will relate not just the learning, but also the skills gained and how you can use those after the class.” Walsh said.

Beyond the medicine and biosciences program, Walsh maintains a full schedule. He has consistently balanced responsibilities such as an internship with Manley Animal Hospital, maintaining a spot on the president’s honor roll, competing and placing in state and international veterinary science competitions, all while participating in Bartlesville High school Soccer.

Upon graduating from Tri County Tech, Walsh will attend Oklahoma State University. He plans to earn his doctorate in veterinary medicine and eventually open his own practice which will serve his community.

“Beyond Garrett’s academic achievements, he displays an admirable character and willingness to help others. Often he helps others at no benefit of his own but rather out of the goodness of his heart.” said Ashley Davis, one of nedicine and biosciences program instructors.
