World War 3: Counter-TERRORISM police deployed after Trump announces Syria airstrikes | World | News

In a major announcement the US President said a co-ordinated attack between the US, UK and France was underway.

In a statement, the NYPD said: “The NYPD is working with our intelligence bureau liaisons stationed abroad as well as out federal partners, and closely monitoring the US military action in Syria.”There is no nexus to News York City, nor are there any credible threats to New York City, at this time.

“Counter-terror officers have been deployed in and around the City out of an abundance of caution.”

The announcement was made less than an hour after Donald Trump made a live address to the nation.

In a statement from the White House, Trump said the strikes were in response to the alleged chemical weapons attack in the town of Douma last Saturday.

The President said: “A combined operation of the armed forces of France and UK is now underway. I thank them both.”

In a vicious attack on the Assad regime, Trump said: “These are not the actions of a man, they are the crimes of a monster instead.”

The President also used his speech to speak directly to Putin.

He said: “To Iran and to Russia I ask, what kind of a nation wants to be associated with the mass murder of innocent men, women and children?”

A coordinated attack by the US, UK and France has been expected for several days after an alleged chemical attack on civilians in Syria last weekend.

Medical sources say dozens of people were killed last Saturday during the suspected chemical attack on Douma, in the Eastern Ghouta region.

The West has blamed the Assad regime for the incident.

However, both Syria and Russia deny the chemical attack took place and had warned the west against taking military action.
